Softwood Posts –What to Expect?

Our 125mm Softwood Posts are supplied as high-quality structural timber, selected for strength, durability and suitability for outdoor projects.

As a natural timber product, softwood will weather and change in appearance over time when exposed to the elements. Depending on its location and exposure, the timber will gradually mellow in colour and may eventually develop a natural silver-grey finish.

During the natural drying and weathering process, you may also notice small splits, surface checking, knots or slight movement in the timber. These are normal characteristics of solid softwood posts and do not generally affect their structural performance.

For customers wishing to retain or alter the original appearance, the posts can be treated with a suitable exterior timber stain, oil or protective finish.
