Despite all of the features built into the outdoor fabrics we use which help to ensure great looks and longevity, ongoing regular maintenance will be required. In particular, deposits from birds, trees, some food and drink stains that may require immediate removal, as these could be damaging if left.
The following guide provides general advice to prolong the good looks and lifespan of your C&J fabric solution. For more specific care instructions please see the individual product or get in touch and we can advise you further.
Removing dirt and other contaminants from acrylic, polyester and PVC based fabrics:
Acrylic and polyester canvas only!
DO NOT RE-PROOF A COVER THAT HAS NOT BEEN CLEANED FIRST.
Once your cover has been cleaned and dried to a satisfactory standard, it may need to be re-proofed using a suitable product. We suggest Ultramar®. A re-proofer can be painted on with a paintbrush (decant into a glass jar first) or can be sprayed on with an aerosol. Concentrate on the seams and let the proofer spread into the canvas. You can then go in with the brush to work it into the canvas. Try to apply a nice even coating. Leave to air dry naturally. Depending on when this was last done, you may have to apply a second thin coating. Keep the re-proofer away from any PVC fabric or windows, clean off any spills with a clean, dry cloth.
Our recommendation is that outdoor products manufactured from acrylic or polyester canvas should be professionally laundered and re-proofed bi-annually by C&J (this may form part of warranty/guarantee policy). This process reduces the build-up of dirt abrasives, mildew and “green algae growth, although we cannot guarantee the removal of mildew and algae from covers that have been neglected over a long period of time.
