Green Oak –What to Expect?

Our posts are supplied as Green Oak, meaning the timber is fresh and newly cut rather than fully seasoned. This gives the oak its natural, fresh appearance when first supplied.

As Green Oak is exposed to the elements, it will gradually season and weather naturally. Over approximately 1–3 seasons, the timber will begin to develop an attractive silver-grey patina, similar to the finish shown in our product photos.

As part of this natural seasoning process, some movement, surface checking and small splits may occur. These are characteristic features of Green Oak and add to its authentic appearance rather than detracting from its strength or suitability for outdoor use.
