Here at C&J we offer a range of different fabrics to suit a variety of applications. Whether you are looking for something breathable and lightweight, or heavy duty, robust and waterproof, we will have a fabric which meets your needs. The fabrics we use are designed for marine use. They all offer strong resistance to UV, unmatched colour strength after long term UV exposure, and unique properties which are more suited to specific applications. Speaking to a member of our team will help you determine which fabric is right for your project.
Below are just some of our most popular ranges, used often for sail shades, canvas building panels and protective furniture covers. Click each link to find out more about each of the ranges and to view the extensive range of colours you can select from.
Many of our customer commissions involve existing garden buildings or permanent structures: for example, creating building panels to fit open-fronted oak buildings or to protect an outdoor kitchen.
Where visibility and light are a desired feature of design, we use a clear PVC window material. Designed primarily for marine use, this material will compliment the overall look and aim of your project, whilst maintaining that all important weather resistance for years to come.
We exclusively use YKK® zips for their superior durability and performance. These zips help to provide flexibility and ensure that our solution will work for you across a range of weather conditions. Larger projects will be completed in individual panels that zip together. This arrangement allows for maximum flexibility and means that you can choose which panels to have rolled up or down according to your requirements.
As in our marine range of fastenings, only the best quality will do. Trusted brand names, knowledgeable staff and long standing relationships with our suppliers means one thing; fit for purpose.
Exterior fastenings must be durable, easy to use and maintain, and look good on your project. In house 3d CAD design service and custom-made stainless steel hardware (via our partner business) are available should ‘off the shelf’ solutions not be suitable.
The strength and durability of your outdoor product is extremely important to us, and we understand that the stitching needs to be as least as robust as the fabric, if not more so. The standard thread that we use is an anti-wick, U.V. stable, bonded polyester; designed specifically for marine use and colour-matched to the marine acrylic canvas we use.
On average the expected life for polyester stitching in typical UK outdoor use, is approximately 5 years, dependant on exposure to U.V. light. As an alternative option, we also offer Tenara® PTFE thread with a 15-year thread warranty. Tenara® (standard on our sail shades) maintains the strength of the seam through many years of inclement outdoor conditions.
